Board of trustees

The Board of Trustees holds final responsibility for Rehoboth towards its stakeholders. They guard the vision and ensure accountability. The Board consists of five South African members. They are supported by the Strategic Leadership Team for short and long-term guidance.

Strategic leadership team

The Strategic Leadership Team consists of the Managing Director and the Childcare Director of Rehoboth. Together they are responsible for the day-to-day running of the organization. The Directors have appointed a Management Team who oversee different Departments, whom in turn execute the practical daily operations. Both Directors are accountable and report back to the Board of Trustees of Rehoboth.

The directors

Alfons is the Managing Director of Rehoboth and Yvonne fulfills the role of Childcare Director. The van der Galiën family loves the diversity the work brings, from the laughter to the joy of seeing children develop into beautiful individuals. They feel truly blessed to be part of Rehoboth for over 25 years. Their greatest desire is to live out the biblical verse Colossians 3:23.

Whatever you do, work heartily,
as for the Lord and not for men.

Operations

To ensure the best possible care, our operations are divided into three dedicated branches.

  • Childcare management
Led by the Childcare Director, this team focuses on the direct well-being of the children. It includes social staff such as caregivers, assistants, and therapists, healthcare staff including nutritionists and specialists, and education staff.
  • General management
This branch handles the essential support structures, including spiritual care, human resources, financial management, IT, and logistics.
  • Estate management
This team maintains the homes and the grounds, utilizing estate support staff and housekeeping cleaners.

Staff

Our team consists of dedicated individuals who share a passion for children. We are deeply committed to our local community. As a policy, Rehoboth recruits and trains as much as possible local staff. This to fill as many paid positions as is financially viable in order to alleviate local unemployment. On the other hand, volunteers are crucial for Rehoboth to be financially efficient and effective. Together with our staff, they pour their knowledge and passion into the children.
